Student Leadership

Noorat Primary School provides opportunities for all students to develop leadership and collaborative skills. Leadership is a quality that all students are encouraged and supported to develop so they have the skills of being active and reflective listeners who respond effectively as they work with others to determine and achieve collective goals. Through the curriculum and extra-curricular activities, students are encouraged and guided to develop the skills necessary to be a leader.

All children live our school values and this is enhanced by our ‘Positive Education Program.’ The Positive Education Program refines and shapes their leadership and collaborative skills in preparation for leadership positions at our school and is also of benefit to all students as they prepare for transition to secondary school.

Student Leadership Congress

Every year our Student Leaders participate in the Student Leaders Congress. The Student Leadership Congress challenges aspiring leaders and teachers to think differently about leadership. Bringing together students, teachers, shire youth groups, aspiring leaders and business and community representatives, the Congress aims to make a genuine difference in our regional communities.

The Day long conference, which the students attend in March, asks participants to think about issues and problems impacting their own communities, and then plan and deliver innovative solutions in the form of community projects. Students work on their community projects together as a Leadership Team, back at school and in their communities.

We thoroughly enjoy participating in this wonderful initiative with all of the schools in the Warrnambool and surrounding areas, and the students look forward to being a part of the project.
